This is it…!

Hi, folks!

I can’t believe it, but it’s finally here, the last songwriter-in-the-round “Detour” show, THIS Friday.

This began two summers ago, when Lake George songwriter Gary Moon and I discovered that we had started to cover each other’s songs. Along with Saratoga songwriter Kate Blain, we decided to record a CD and spend the following year playing songs together.

We premiered the (quite literal) song circle at the West Rutland Town Hall in Vermont, and continued on a monthly attack of venues, radio stations, and festivals in northern New York, including Old Songs in Voorheesville, Coffee Planet in Balston Spa, Kribstock in Hadley, the Adirondack Folk Festival in Schroon Lake, Something’s Brewing in Greenwich, Ridge Street Coffee Company in Glens Falls, “Sympatico” on WSPN, Wanda Fischer’s “Hudson River Sampler” on WAMC, and even an in-store gig at a clothing boutique in Lake Placid!

We’ve played each other’s songs, joined together to breathe new life into our catalog pieces, laughed our way through silly covers, and tried out brand new material. An orange road cone and a “Detour” sign MAY have gotten stolen from a nearby road crew…

And, on more than one occasion, Kate got funky.

Would you please join us for our final “Detour” show this Friday at the historic Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY?

This historic venue has hosted folk legends such as Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Don McLean, as well as a hundred contemporary songwriters from whom I draw inspiration… My first “real” gig as a songwriter came after playing Lena’s open mic many years ago. I know it holds a special place in the hearts of both Kate and Gary, as well.
